I also love hearing your thoughts, so don’t forget to like/share/comment as well! J. Crew made waves last Autumn when they introduced their giant fit chino. The brand that has been synonymous with the phrase “slim fit“ finally made a drastic change to the ethos of their menswear line.
Great piece as always. I have a vintage 90s RL Oxford (also pink) that fits a lot like this, it’s definitely my biggest shirt and I’m on the leaner side but it’s a fun look to pull off. I need to go about getting wider fit pants to match though!
I’ve had great success with Jack Donnelly and madewell’s relaxed fit. Just saw that j crew launched a giant fit corduroy pant which I also want to try out
If you asked me if I’d wear something in such a full cut back when I started getting into menswear, I would’ve laughed at you. Now I’m thinking it might be my preferred fit 😅
Good stuff. I consider the button on the back of the collar to be a feature not a bug (J Press has always had this). I just can justify buying OCBDs in smlxl sizing. You should try Proper Cloth, which makes a custom fitted superb OCBD esp with the heavier Oxford. They've nailed the all important collar role. For off the rack I like Press these days.
I actually am partnered with proper cloth! Their offerings are awesome for the price. ~$90 for a MTO Oxford is pretty much unbeatable, and very much agreed on their collars too.
WRT letter sizing for shirts, I’m also really lucky in that a size large from J. Crew fits me just about perfectly. Probably a consideration I should’ve mentioned in the main body lol
back of collar button slander! cant stand for it!
They make wearing a tie like 10x more annoying!
dang I really showed my ass with how little I wear ties.
(I never wear one either)
You know you can unbutton it for a tie, right ;-)?
Love the botton on the back, personally. A touch J. Press adds to theirs. An inessential differentiator.
Yeah it’s definitely a personal dislike haha. Just always found myself fussing a little too much trying to get everything to sit right with them

10/10 profile pic btw
Full cut is definitely a winner for me too.👍👊

The relaxed fit Oxford is a current favorite. Ditto the ~heritage twill~ work shirt. Both roomy and drapey with good collars.
Yeah happy to see them stepping it up in the collar department especially. Always been a weak point for the crew
